Employment

Hand Hygiene Nurse, Royal Inland Hospital (Kamloops) – Feb 01, 2022, to December 2022

Working alongside the dedicated Infection Control Practitioners at Royal Inland Hospital, I had the important responsibility of conducting comprehensive hand hygiene audits across all the units of the hospital. These audits were critical in ensuring that health care providers adhered to the highest standards of hygiene, thereby minimizing the risk of infections, and safeguarding the well-being of patients and staff alike.

To further enhance my expertise in this vital area, I completed numerous i-learn modules, which provided in-depth knowledge and training on infection control protocols specific to Interior Health. These educational modules covered a wide range of topics related to hand hygiene within a healthcare environment, equipping me with the latest best practices and guidelines to effectively monitor and promote optimal hygiene standards.

Through my hands-on experience and continuous learning, I became adept at identifying areas for improvement, providing constructive feedback, and implementing measures to maintain a sterile and safe healthcare setting. My collaboration with the Infection Control Practitioners was instrumental in fostering a culture of accountability and excellence in infection control practices throughout the hospital.

Med/Surge LPN 5 South, Royal Inland Hospital (Kamloops) – Feb 01, 2021, to Present

Providing comprehensive care to a diverse population of patients is at the heart of my practice. This includes but is not limited to attending to alcohol withdrawal patients, terminally ill patients, psychiatric patients, individuals with severe dementia, those experiencing liver failure, fresh stroke victims, patients recovering from heart attacks, and those suffering from septicemia. Each patient’s unique needs are met with compassion and professionalism. I support unit needs through effective supply management, ensuring that all necessary resources are available for patient care. Additionally, I engage in detailed charting to maintain accurate and thorough patient records, which is crucial for ongoing treatment and care planning.

Moreover, my training encompasses code white and code blue scenarios, providing me with hands-on experience in emergency response situations. This training allows me to react swiftly and efficiently during crises, ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients. My commitment to continuous learning and adaptability enables me to provide high-quality care in a dynamic and challenging healthcare environment.

Housekeeping Manager, Four Points by Sheraton Hotel (Kamloops) June 01, 2017, to June 01, 2018

Working closely with the administrative and management staff, I was responsible for overseeing all housekeeping staff, ensuring that operations ran smoothly and efficiently. One of my key duties was to meticulously plan out each housekeeper’s schedule for the day, taking into consideration the workload and specific requirements of each shift. I made it a point to provide support to the staff as needed, addressing any concerns or challenges that arose and ensuring they had the necessary resources to perform their tasks effectively.

In addition to schedule planning and support, I conducted extensive room inspections to maintain high standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction. I meticulously checked each room for adherence to cleanliness protocols and followed up with each staff member as needed to address any issues or provide guidance on best practices. My role also required me to travel with the management team to different hotels in Kamloops. During these visits, we would assess the housekeeping operations and identify areas for improvement. This collaborative effort allowed us to implement new strategies and initiatives to enhance the overall performance and efficiency of our housekeeping department. Through these efforts, we continually sought ways to elevate the quality of service we provide to our guests.

Interests and Additional Experiences

  • Farming – 2014 to 2019

I have extensive experience working on farms as a farm hand as well as a manager. At these farms, I worked with customers who were boarding their horses on said farms as well as assisted in birthday parties that were held there. We had many clinics held on the farm to teach locals about horse first aid as well as horsemanship. I was in 4-H for most of my formative years and was able to bring said group to the farms I was working on to help teach about the animals we had selected. I managed other farmhands who were hired and assisted in training and setting up work schedules for them. I would also assist in morning and night feeds of all the animals as well as transporting animals as needed.

  • Fitness

I have always loved moving my body, whether it was through engaging in sports like rugby and gymnastics, or by hitting the gym to lift weights. The feeling of pushing myself physically and achieving new goals has always been a source of joy and fulfillment for me. To maintain this passion for movement, I try incorporating physical activity into my daily routine. Every day, I take my loyal and energetic dog, Rooster, for long walks and hikes, exploring the beauty of nature together. In addition to our daily adventures, I am dedicated to going to the gym at least four days a week. There, I challenge myself with various workouts, continuously striving to improve my strength and fitness. This combination of outdoor activities and gym sessions not only keeps me physically fit but also brings a sense of balance and well-being to my life.

  • Art

I actively explore various creative outlets to express my artistic abilities, constantly seeking new ways to push the boundaries of my imagination. Whether it’s through the fine lines and intricate details of drawing, the vibrant and evocative colours of painting, the precise and meticulous stitches of sewing, or the dazzling and sparkling embellishments of bedazzling, I find joy in every artistic endeavour. Each medium provides a unique opportunity to showcase my artistic flair, allowing me to experiment with different techniques and styles. Through these creative pursuits, I bring my imaginative visions to life, transforming everyday materials into extraordinary works of art that captivate and inspire. My passion for creativity knows no bounds, and I am always eager to discover new artistic avenues and explore the limitless possibilities they offer. Creating allows me to decompress and ground myself, as well as work through trauma I have experienced throughout my life.
